CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Executive Director


Position Summary:
The Executive Director must have a successful track record in managing a non-profit of a comparable size and complexity as CLW, and be able to demonstrate vision as well as leadership, complemented with strong fiscal skills.  The Director is responsible for overall management of the agency encompassing financial and personnel management, funding, advocacy, and community relations.  Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Director must ensure that the work of the agency effectively carries out the mission and strategic direction of CLW.
 
Reports To:  Board of Directors

Direct Reports:  Senior Program Directors, Director of Finance and Administration, Executive Assistant

Responsibilities:  
 · Oversees strategic growth and development of the Center’s resources and programs in consultation
   with the Board of Directors.
 · Manages daily operations including fiscal, technology, personnel management, staff development, and program development to serve cross-disability and multi-cultural populations.
 · Directs advocacy efforts, which promote independent living philosophy.
 · Develops, oversees and manages annual agency budget.
 · Secures and maintains funding for all programs and services.
 · Works closely with the Board of Directors:
    - providing support for committees; 
    - developing and implementing a slate of fund-raising initiatives;
    - facilitating ongoing recruitment of highly qualified candidates for board membership.
 · Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances.

Minimum Qualifications:
 · 5 years work experience in a non-profit organization including supervising staff and working with a Board of Directors.
 · Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.  Master’s preferred.
 · Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication, and interpersonal relations.
 · Demonstrated ability to oversee financial management of the agency.

Desirable Competencies:
 · Demonstrated knowledge and skills in developing partnerships in the community to accomplish common
   goals.
 · Demonstrated knowledge and skills in advocacy and public policy development.
 · Demonstrated knowledge of the Independent Living Movement and Disability Rights Laws.
 · Knowledge and experience working with cross disability and multicultural populations.
 · Demonstrated success in fundraising.
 · Demonstrated experience in program development.
 · Ability to engender loyalty and build an effective team.
 · Leads by example.

Compensation:
 · Salary range is from $75,000 to $85,000
 · CLW offers a competitive benefits package.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

Job Summary
The Director of Finance and Administration is the principal fiscal officer of The Center for Living and Working.  S/he reports to the Executive Director for financial management of the organization, for operation of the physical plant, and for oversight of all business functions.

Qualifications for the Position
• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience may be substituted for education
• Minimum of three years of successful financial management experience in nonprofit organizations, including a
  supervision role.
• Knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management, including fund accounting, budgeting and government contract
  management.
• Experience with major accounting software package; GreatPlains a plus.
• Excellent communication skills

Primary Responsibilities
• General oversight of business affairs
• Ensure adequate accounting and administrative policies and procedures are in place and consistently
  implemented
• Ensure that financial operations comply with state and federal regulations, including proper filing of all taxes
  and reports.
• Ensure adequate insurance coverage
• Provide supervision to accounting staff

Physical Plant and Technology Management
• Oversee physical plant, including repairs and maintenance and planning for renovations for main site and
  satellite locations.
• Ensure program and administrative staff have adequate work space, furniture, fixtures, and equipment to carry
  out their job responsibilities.
• Act as primary liaison with building management and condo association.
• Primary liaison with technology providers, including computer and phone systems.

Accounting
• Maintain the general ledger of the organization, conducting a monthly close and maintaining subsidiary
  ledgers.
• Provide monthly financial reports, including statements of revenue and expenses, balance sheet, and cash
  flow.
• Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Grants and Contracts Management
• Ensure compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations, and with contracting agency requirements.
• Serve as liaison with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and private agencies for the fiscal management of
  all contracts.
• Coordinate budget preparation for contract renewals and amendments, and for new funding.
• Provide the Executive Director and Program Directors with contract management reports, conducting monthly
  financial analysis of contract performance in concert with them.

Other fiscal
• Coordinate and oversee preparation of an annual budget, in cooperation with Executive Director, providing at
  least one budget revision throughout the year.
• Oversee cash management including managing payables and receivables, debt repayment and use of credit
  line.
• Assist with business development projections and other new initiatives.
• Prepare for annual A-133 audit and UFR/tax filings, acting as primary liaison with audit firm.
• Oversee fixed asset tracking and management.

Support to the organization
• Provide information to Finance Committee and Board of Directors that enables them to make sound fiduciary
  decisions.
• Provide staff support to the Finance Committee including convening meetings, establishing agendas in
  cooperation with the Executive Director and Treasurer, providing information to support decision-making,
  keeping meeting minutes.
• Provide financial analysis to the Executive Director as required to support operational decision-making.
• Work with Program Directors to develop budgets, review expenditures and stay within budgetary guidelines
  and contractual requirements.

Other
• Oversee wrap-up of fiscal intermediary business.
• Assume all other duties the Executive Director may require.

MEDICAID PROGRAM SPECIALIST - Personal Care Management Services has an immediate full time "temp," possibly "temp to hire" opening for a Medicaid Program Specialist to provide skills training for people with disabilities who are eligible for the MassHealth PCA program. Services are provided in consumers’ homes throughout central Massachusetts.  Requirements: familiarity with the health care needs of people with disabilities; commitment to Independent Living philosophy; time management, communication and organizational skills essential; ability to travel within service area a must; 1 – 3 years relevant experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively with people with disabilities; some college preferred; and ability to be a team player, bi-lingual a plus.

DEAF INDEPENDENT LIVING SPECIALIST - The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program has an immediate part-time (20 hrs/week) opening for a Deaf Independent Living Specialist who will provide independent living services, peer mentoring, problem solving assistance, crisis intervention, advocacy, information and referral, and outreach and community education to our Deaf Consumers in the Greater Framingham area.  Requirements:  BS in Human Services or 2 years of related experience preferred; Fluency in American Sign Language; Sensitivity to and awareness of issues relating to deaf issues; Effective interpersonal, communication and written skills; Ability to cope during stressful situations; Knowledge of Independent Living Skills; Ability to handle paperwork demands and able to meet deadlines; Background experience and/or willingness to be involved with the Deaf Community; Own means or transportation required
